Denka received an A- rating in the CDP Climate Change Report 2019 released on January 20, 2020.

CDP (headquarters in London) is an international NGO that was established based on a partnership with world institutional investors in 2000. CDP sends out questionnaires to major companies and cities around the world, asking that they disclose information on topics including climate change, water security and forests. The evaluation results of environmental data disclosure transparency and operational involvement were released.

Denka has responded to the climate change questionnaire since 2015. This time, we reported on initiatives for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, saving energy and our expanding use of renewable energy by means of our hydraulic power and photovoltaic power generation, as well as environmentally-conscious products and technologies being focused on by the Denka Group such as materials for secondary batteries and construction/civil engineering materials.

In accordance with the recommendation by the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), we are currently preparing to deeply disclose environmental management information. We have also started responding to the CDP questionnaire on water security since 2019. We will strive to conduct management with an emphasis on ESG (environment, society, and governance) considering the implementation of countermeasures to climate change based on international frameworks as an issue of utmost importance.
